Easter is a time to be reminded afresh of how extraordinary it is that the death and resurrection of Jesus brings us into a relationship with the almighty God! Not only that, but the Bible makes it clear that we are formed into one body, with many members, and Christ as our head:
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Corinthians 12:12–13)
What a privilege it is then, to partner with other parts of that body, whether Australian or African, rich or poor. One way we do that is by partnering with Bible colleges throughout the world, assisting them to train men and women to serve Christ’s church—to teach the Bible faithfully, to lead and to love their communities.
This Easter, we are focusing on the work of St Francis of Assisi Theological College in Wusasa, Nigeria, which is led by Bishop Praises Omole. Anglican Aid provides bursaries to 40 students at the college, many of whom will work as evangelists in different parts of Nigeria. You can find more information about some of the students that Anglican Aid supports here.
Other Overseas Ministry projects that Anglican Aid supports include:
- A Moore College busary for a Zimbabwean evangelist
- Bursaries for Tanzanian ministry workers to study Theology at Ugandan Christian University
- Bursaries for students studying at Alexandria Theological College in Egypt
- Bursaries for students studying at Johannesburg Bible College in South Africa
All students who receive bursaries from Anglican Aid have shown to be in extreme financial need. By training the next generation of Church leaders, Anglican Aid is helping to grow and strengthen the Church in the Global South on the firm foundation of the Gospel.
Please join with us in prayer for the needy church in the Global South this Easter.
