The Common Ground project seeks to develop healthy children in healthy families in the Corrimal Parish by providing preventative education and long term, stable relationships. This is acheived by a trained team of motivated volunteers who run after-school children’s programs.
The Parish of Corrimal has been slowly building upon its projects in order to see families cared for in our area. One of the ways we are doing this is particularly through contact with children and youth. A youth worker is able to work in Corrimal High to make contact and build relationship with the students as well as working with young people in our church. Combined, both projects result in an informal peer support network that is facilitated by the project leadership team.
A "Boys to Men" project is also provided to encourage boys to maintain healthy relationships with a community of men who are good role models. A number of times through the year men sponsor a boy on a camp they attend together. This is a take on the old Father and Son camps where men give young boys support and a healthy view of how to use their masculinity.
