Dapto Street Crew approaches community concerns of anti-social behaviour, substance abuse and malicious damage to public and private property through facilitating relationships and positive influences with young people, aged between 12 and 25, statistically aligned to these concerns. Throughout directly affected suburbs the program takes mobile means of entertainment and information relevant to community concerns in a trailer specifically constructed to the demands of the program.
The program is considered to be the most effective method of approaching the rise in anti-social behaviour within the community. Through years of observation and building mentor relationships with young people through local secondary schools such as Dapto High School and Kanahooka High School anti-social behaviour has been observed as a growing issue amongst young people.
The program operates through an outreach caravan, equipped with video games, BBQ and physical activities such as a basketball hoop, which can be located where youth “hang out” during the weekends. A volunteer team is always on hand to meet with young people and form relationships and provide counsel and advice to steer them away from anti-social activities.
All donations are tax deductible.
