This project comes as a sustainable approach to food security, nutrition and income generation. Piglets can be raised to provide a reliable source of nutrient-dense food, which is essential for these vulnerable communities. Pigs also are an excellent source of fertilizer, which will strengthen the vegetable growing capacity of the owners. Continual breeding of piglets will not only ensure that this food source is secure, but will also provide an income stream to these communities. 

By providing piglets for farming, vulnerable people and impoverished families will be able to benefit from financial gains and profits that will enable their households to have proper food, clothing, shelter and also be able to buy medication when ill. 

The Shyira Piglets Project  will directly help almost 800 people, but is expected to have even greater impacts in the surrounding communities.
