Sudan: Praying for Christians in the Nuba Mountains
Anglican Aid has been partnering with the Diocese of Kadugli in the Nuba Mountains in the south of Sudan to help them rebuild schools and a theological college after the region was decimated by years of bombing at the hands of the government in the north.
Incredibly, these needy brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Kadugli are now hosting thousands of internally displaced people who are fleeing violence in the north. Anglican Aid has sent funds to help the Anglican Church provide food and other emergency supplies to these displaced people.
- Praise God and pray for the many people from different religious backgrounds who are accepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour in the Nuba Mountains.
- Pray for peace in Sudan, and for freedom of religion, especially for the people of the Nuba Mountains who have suffered through years of war.
- Pray that the kindness shown by the Anglican Church in the Nuba Mountains will point displaced people to Jesus’ love.
- Pray for the building projects in the Diocese of Kadugli including Grace Secondary School and Korkel Theological Institute. This is the first diocesan development to take place since the war broke out in 2011.
- Pray for Bishop Andudu Adam Elnail and the Diocesan staff as they lead the rapidly growing church in the Nuba Mountains through this challenging time.

Nigeria: Diocese of Jos
In recent years in Nigeria, thousands of Christians have been killed, injured, or had their homes and livelihoods destroyed by violent extremists. Anglican Aid is partnering with the Diocese of Jos and the Diocese of Canberra/Goulburn to provide support to Christians who have suffered in Nigeria.
- Pray for the protection and provision of needs for the thousands of Christians in rural communities either fearing or living in trauma after violent attacks by Fulani and other militants, in both Plateau and Kaduna States.
- Pray for Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and others in leadership to be strengthened in their efforts to bring peace, safety, and effective security force protection to people in Nigeria.
- Pray for wisdom and God’s provision for the Diocese of Jos as it cares for orphaned and at-risk children and provides emergency relief to those who have been attacked.
- Pray for the Christian Institute in Jos training new pastors to serve in the context of persecution and suffering.
- Pray for refreshment and blessing for Archbishop Ben and Mama Gloria Kwashi as they retire, and for safety and energy as they prepare to take up their ministry to disadvantaged and orphaned children.
- Praise God for the generosity of Australian donors to the Diocese of Jos and pray for a continuing growth in generosity.

Brazil: Aid for Afghan refugees
Anglican Aid has been partnering with the Diocese of Vitoria to help Afghan Christian families resettle in Brazil. Over the course of the project, some of the families have been able to find independent accommodation and employment, and some moved on to a third country to reunite with other family members. As a result, this project is now complete.
- Pray for safety for our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan, and for those who have fled, but have not yet been able to make it to a safe place.
- Give thanks for the many people who have been helped by the resettlement program for Afghan refugees in Brazil. Give thanks for the churches in Brazil who are looking after them.
- Pray for the Afghan Christian families in Brazil. Pray for continued healing of their trauma, opportunities for work and growth in the love and knowledge of Jesus. Pray that the children will do well at school and find friends and a sense of belonging. The families also ask for prayer for their loved ones who are still in Afghanistan or have fled to other places.
- Pray for the Diocese of Vitoria in Brazil, as well as local churches and Christian organisations, as they sacrificially serve refugees and people living in poverty.
Pray for Afghanistan.
A prayer for persecuted Christians
Eternal Father, almighty shepherd of your people,
You have promised that those who follow Jesus will be persecuted. We pray for your children around the world who are suffering mistreatment, imprisonment, loss of possessions, and threats of death for their allegiance to you. By your mighty power keep them faithful to you. Be their shield and defence, their refuge and their stronghold.
Shelter them under the shadow of your wings, that they may not fear their enemies, and help us to uphold them in prayer, that together we may walk in the light of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and not be ashamed to confess him as Lord, to the glory of your name, Amen.
