The Anugrah Disabilities Program started at the Herbertpur Christian Hospital, Uttarakhand State 10 years ago. It is situated in the Himalayan Mountains where snow, earthquakes, floods and landslides make life challenging. For many people in this region, access to health and rehab services is virtually impossible.
The Centre offers Christian care, compassion and access to essential health and rehab services. They provide accommodation for whole families while they receive care and training. The three-storey accessible Training Centre is now complete and has wood and metal workshops. They teach good work habits and social skills for the workplace and supervision as they move towards independence.
The Anugrah Disabilities Program serves anyone regardless of race, caste, creed or religion.
The aims of the Centre are:
- To improve the quality of life of children and adults who are developmentally disadvantaged
- To enhance their prospects in the area of health, education, social, livelihood and empowerment
- To improve the well-being of their families who care for them
- To equip the community to be inclusive and responsive to the needs of people with disabilities
