Life in Abundance: Economic Empowerment through Microfinance

Anglican Aid is partnering with Life in Abundance ministries to help communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to defeat poverty. Vulnerable people in the towns of Bukava, Goma, Uvira and surrounding villages are receiving microfinance loans along with microenterprise training, so they can set up small businesses.

In recent years, these towns and villages have experienced political instability, militia attacks, fires, floods, landslides and a volcano eruption. There are high levels of unemployment and hundreds of thousands of people are living in urban slums and below the poverty line. Severe malnutrition affects the most vulnerable, especially children, pregnant women, widows and orphans. 

Life in Abundance aims to build economic empowerment in local communities by providing microfinance loans and vocational skills training to over 500 vulnerable people. This will provide the foundation for building sustainable small businesses that generate a reliable income so families can afford education, nutritious food and other essential household items.
