Together with the Anglican Diocese of Mara, Anglican Aid is helping Shalom Pre and Primary School to provide education for girls and boys in the Bunda district in Tanzania. The children are from rural areas, often subsistence farms, and quality education would otherwise be out of their reach.

Shalom is significantly different to the local government school.  They are bridging the gap between Kindergarten and Secondary School by teaching in English so that the children have a good grasp of English by 1st Form. The class sizes are limited to 35, where they can be up to 100 in other schools. And Shalom is one of the few schools in Tanzania with a ‘No Corporal Punishment’ policy. Instead, they employ positive behaviour management techniques which lead to an interactive and creative classroom.
