Ririn

When Ririn fell pregnant at 18 years old, she was unmarried, scared to tell her family, and got fired from her job. RUTH Foundation provided a refuge to safely deliver and care for her baby. They offered shelter, counselling, pastoral support, pre and postnatal care, and help with finding work. “God has a bright future for us…there’s always hope with God.”

Ameria

Life in a poor rural village was tough for Ameria until she was given the opportunity to attend Muleba Ladies College in the Diocese of Lweru. Now she’s learning sewing, soap making, gardening, and basic business skills. She’ll be equipped to earn an income when she graduates next year. “May God be praised for giving me such a chance to study [job] skills.”

Samuel

Samuel’s family live on the brick kilns, making mud bricks in the heat and dust all day to pay off generations of family debt. He now attends a Miracle Ministries School, helping to break the cycle of poverty. Neither his widowed mother or grandmother had the opportunity to go to school. His is the first generation in their family to receive an education.

Sowmya

Sowmya married young and was abused by her husband. Finally, she escaped and ended up outside a church. A woman leaving the church after a prayer meeting, took her under her wing and referred her to Bangalore Women’s Safehouse. Sowmya now has a safe and loving place to call home and leads the baking team at the Bread of Life Bakery.

Intan

Her partner left her and she was rejected by family when she fell pregnant. The teenager felt profoundly alone – like no one acknowledged, accepted, or cared about her. Then she found RUTH Foundation. They provided support, she safely delivered her daughter, and was offered a job. Loneliness was replaced with community, love, acceptance, and care.
