AFRICA:
Alexandria School of Theology
The Alexandria School of Theology (AST) was founded in 2005 as a strategic venture of the Episcopal / Anglican Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa to serve the Kingdom of God and grow Christ’s church through theological and spiritual formation of Christian leaders. It is the only Anglican theological institution in the Middle East that teaches primarily in Arabic.
AST trains both Christian lay people and clergy to serve Christ in the Anglican Church as well as in other churches in their region of the world. The school offers courses up to PhD level, with PhD graduates often returning to the college as lecturers. During their studies, students cover the three main areas of academic formation, spiritual formation & church activities, and mission & community engagement.
AST’s two campuses, in Cairo and Alexandria, are preparing students for youth ministry, evangelism and teaching God’s word in churches.

“As AST continues to strengthen as an institution of biblical faithfulness in Africa, led by Africans, it will have a great influence in shaping mainstream Anglicanism in the 21 century.”
Canon Ashley Null
Chairman, Alexandria School of Theology

“We are known for our solid biblical teaching.”
Bishop Samy Shehata
Principal, Alexandria School of Theology

“This term’s courses helped me in my ministry with the Sunday schools. I was taught how to link the Old and New Testament together to the kids in a way that helps them see the whole picture related to each other with the history of redemption.”
Christen Katry Wadie Khalil
Bachelor of Theology Student, Alexandria School of Theology
