Transform Cycle is a four-month training program, run through the local church, using a H.O.P.E. curriculum.

Rumonge, with a population of over 35,000 on the shores of Lake Tanganyika is a significant trading point for east Africa, but vulnerable to flooding and attack by Congolese rebel groups. 

Extreme poverty often results from a lack of essentials such as safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and proper hygiene practices, conditions that lead to disease and contribute to crop failure. When these barriers are removed, lives can be transformed. 

By addressing core needs in health, income generation and education, families and communities can become stronger and more resilient. Providing access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) training helps build healthier households. Equipping families with financial literacy and the skills to form savings groups strengthens their economic stability. 

As these foundations grow, families become better protected against illness, crop loss, and fluctuations in food prices, empowering them to shape a brighter, more secure future. 

Anglican Church leaders and lay leaders will be involved in pastoral care and mobilising awareness of the program in the community. By integrating biblical teaching and discipleship with practical care, many will deepen their church engagement. 

The goal is to run 30 Transform Cycles sessions, training 6,300 people in 2026. 

Through your generosity, people in Rumonge, Burundi will be healthy, able to feed their families, resilient, and have access to pastoral care through the Anglican Church. This will result in thankfulness to God.

Gracious and merciful God, you are the defender of the poor and the refuge of all in need. Look with compassion on those who struggle without enough, without adequate food, clean water, and without hope. Strengthen those who are weary and help the Transform Cycle program transform the lives of people in the community of Rumonge.
