Anglican Aid is partnering with MAT Zimbabwe, a ministry seeking to win the world for Christ by multiplying Gospel workers through ministry apprenticeships.

It is not easy for a ministry apprentice in Zimbabwe to raise the funds required to support their two-year apprenticeship. 85% of the population are in poverty, that is they earn less than $US 5.50 per day. Though the majority of the population is Christian, many churches do not have pastors and those that have, close to 80% of the pastors are untrained. Some of the pastors serving more than 3 churches, and Anglican Aid’s support means more men and women are recruited and trained in ministry.

Supporting MAT Zimbabwe:

When you give to MAT Zimbabwe you will be supporting:

  • The training of trainers
  • Apprentice living expenses as they learn to become Gospel workers
  • Various Conferences designed to grow the quality and quantity of apprentice e.g., the national trainer and apprentice conference, MATZ apprentice recruiting conferences
  • The overhead costs of MAT Zimbabwe

“Antony Dandato, the MAT Zimbabwe National Director is a very fine leader. He learnt about ministry apprenticeships during his theological study in South Africa. He said, “This is what Zimbabwe needs. Where can I go after George Whitfield College to do a ministry apprenticeship?” He was told Perth, Australia. So, he went there and trained under Tim Thorburn at the University of Western Australia. During this time, he met many other MTS movement leaders from Australia and overseas. Once his apprenticeship was completed, he returned to Zimbabwe and set up MAT Zimbabwe.

I visited Harare, Gweru and Bulawayo for 6 days in April 2023. MAT Zim is not only training a high number of apprentices (21) but they are providing top quality training.

I know Antony Dandato very well. I have seen the ministry from a distance since 2009 and up close since 2016. I commend MAT Zimbabwe to you.”
