Churches in the world’s poorest places face extra challenges in fulfilling Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and his Great Commandment (Mark 12:31).
Loving neighbours who are hungry, have no clean water to drink, or are displaced after fleeing war, takes resources that these Christians often don’t have. Also, it’s more difficult for churches to make disciples when their leaders are poorly trained because they can’t afford theological education.
As you read through Anglican Aid’s 2024-25 Annual Report, you will see how your support is enabling churches in poor areas to do what Jesus asks them to do: to love God and their neighbours, and to make disciples of all nations.
In the past year, through Anglican Aid projects, God’s people have given clean water, farming tools, schooling, wheelchairs, cataract surgery, roofing sheets, solar-powered audio Bibles, emergency food supplies, and more. And churches have been strengthened to make disciples. Over 750 pastors undertook theological training, with 300 of these graduating, and many already heading out to lead churches. More than 1,460 people have undertaken other short ministry courses in children’s, youth, and women’s ministries.
Bishop Aimé Kimararungu from the Diocese of Gitega in Burundi is so thankful that his church can meet physical and spiritual needs through its partnership with Christians on the other side of the world. “With the support of Anglican Aid, we are able to preach the gospel, to change people’s hearts, but also to change their lives, to improve their way of living,” he said.
