In August, Pastor Samir Yacco from Syria, spoke to Anglican Aid supporters.

Around 80 people gathered on a wet Wednesday night in September at St James Church, Croydon to hear Anglican Aid’s partner Rev Berthier Lainirina share about his work in Madagascar. As the principal at St Patrick’s Theological College, Rev Berthier is training pastors for the rapidly growing church in the poor island nation. Anglican Aid staff Cameron Jansen and Michael Charles recently visited Madagascar and also shared about projects that will advance the gospel and care for people’s physical needs.

And on 12 August, almost 70 people came to Anglican Aid’s headquarters to hear Pastor Samir Yacco, our partner in Syria. Pastor Samir shared how his church has been serving people in need through years of civil war in Damascus, Syria. When asked why he stayed in Syria when so many had left, he said that it would undermine years of gospel preaching to leave behind his church. “How could I keep saying my treasure is in heaven if I left?” he said.

One attender commented, “It is a great encouragement to be reminded of our worldwide family in Christ, and to be able to support them!”
