Praise God that generous Anglican Aid supporters have given over $48,000 to support Christians fleeing persecution from Islamic State in northern Mozambique. “The funding will make a huge impact in such a critical moment for the church in Mozambique,” said Bishop Vicente from the Diocese of Zambezia.
The rise of Islamic extremism in the Province of Cabo Delgado, has had a devastating impact on the lives of Christians. The insurgency began in 2017 but has escalated this year. Churches and homes have been burnt down, Christian leaders abducted, and many others killed. Many have fled to large cities in the region that are already overwhelmed with displaced people. With help from Anglican Aid’s supporters, the Diocese of Zambezia has been distributing maize, flour, beans, sugar, and oil to families who have been displaced.
