The Archbishop of Sydney’s Anglican Aid  has warmly welcomed the news that the Very Reverend Kanishka Raffel, global ambassador for Anglican Aid, has been elected Archbishop for the Sydney Anglican Diocese.

The appointment comes at a time when Anglican Aid is working to strengthen relationships between churches in Sydney and its Christian partners delivering development and ministry programs overseas.

“Kanishka is a leader who’s heart goes beyond the diocese,” said Anglican Aid CEO Canon Tim Swan. “He already works to strengthen Anglicans across Australia, the Pacific, and the world, always pointing to the source of our salvation, the cross of Christ.”

“I am looking forward to working more closely with Kanishka as the new Archbishop behind the ministry of The Archbishop of Sydney’s Anglican Aid. He will be instrumental in our mission to build relationships between Australian Christians and local partners around the world.”

Tim Swan commended Raffel’s past work in training preachers in the developing world and his involvement with the GAFCON movement in Australia and abroad.

Kanishka Raffel has been a global ambassador for Anglican Aid since 2017.
