War and floods: Anglican Aid keeps focus on global poor

As the overseas aid and ministry support agency of Sydney Anglicans, Anglican Aid mourns the outbreak of war in Ukraine. We are also deeply saddened by the loss of life and homes experienced by victims of catastrophic flooding in Australia.

Anglican Aid has made the decision not to raise donations in response to these crises. This is because as an organisation, our priority is to build relationships with Christians in developing nations, where under God, long-term partnerships can lead to transformed communities.

“our priority is to build relationships with Christians in developing nations, where under God, long-term partnerships can lead to transformed communities.”

We instead encourage you to support Anglicare’s flood response, as they focus on caring for communities within Australia.

For those suffering in Ukraine, we believe European nations and international agencies are well-positioned to provide care for victims of the conflict, while Anglican Aid holds fast to our mission of partnering with the global poor.

We will continue to serve brothers and sisters in the poorest countries in the world – such as Ethiopia, Madagascar, and South Sudan, among others – where we are partnering with local Christians to provide humanitarian and emergency relief, and sustainable, long term projects in education, income generation, WASH, Bible training and more.

We bring our petitions for peace around the world before the throne of God. Please pray with us.

Almighty God, Heavenly Father,

Guide with your wisdom and power the leaders of the nations, so that everyone may live in peace and mutual trust, sharing with justice the resources of the earth. Give the people of this land a spirit of unselfishness, compassion, and fairness in public and private life.

Lord, in your mercy,

hear our prayer.

Let grace flow,

Tim Swan
