Lebanon: Reaching the unreachable

It was 10 pm one night in December when a Syrian couple and their one-year-old baby knocked on Pastor Emil Bourizk’s door. They had heard about Emil and his wife Reem. As well as running the Good Shepherd School for Syrian refugee children with support from Anglican Aid, Emil and Reem care for people in need. They offer shelter, food, and kindness to people who are far from home.

“But most importantly,” said Emil, “[we] reach these unreachable people with the Good News of our Lord.”

Emil welcomed the family in for the night, gave them something to eat, and listened to their story. The father had held a high position in the former Syrian regime before leaving the country.

The next morning, the first thing the couple said to Emil was, “Give us the gospel and be ready to baptise us.” The father added, “I lost millions of dollars back in Syria, but it was worth it because that was the cost of having our eyes opened to start seeing the light.”

Emil had this message for Anglican Aid supporters who give so he can be ready to help people in need: “I praise God, and I thank you for being a channel that enables us to touch many lives, with the practical love of our Lord.”

Thank you for praying and giving to see communities transformed.

For your prayers

Praise God for his servants who are sharing Jesus’ love with Syrian refugees.
