The Anglican Church of Mozambique is expanding a program to train church leaders using the Portuguese version of the Moore College Preliminary Theological Certificate (PTC). This is possible due to the generous gifts of Anglican Aid supporters like you. 

The Anglican Church in Mozambique is growing. It doesn’t have its own seminary and around 90% of its pastors don’t have formal theological education. To address this, the PTC program was piloted last year in the Diocese of Zambezia with 68 church leaders studying Doctrine 1 and 2.  

Program Coordinator Mark Bwanakaya said that the benefits for the students are clear. “The materials propel them to read the Bible more and this is helping a lot in terms of Bible literacy,” he said. “Most important of all is to see the love of the things of the Lord in the students, which was not there when we started.” 

This year, the course will be rolled out in Mozambique’s seven dioceses, aiming to teach around 240 Christian leaders per year for the next three years.
