Rochelle (right) displays her awards
Rochelle was delighted to show the team at Intsika the awards she received at the end of primary school last year for Natural Sciences, Technology, Social Sciences, and Leadership. Rochelle has been a member of Intsika’s Homework Club. The club provides a space and help for around 40 children after school each week as they complete homework, assignments, and prepare for exams. Attendance rates are high and there is a waiting list to join.
Intsika is serving a community on the outskirts of Gqeberha where many people live in poverty, with high rates of unemployment, substance abuse, and family breakdown. Rochelle will become the first in her family to attend high school. She is also growing in leadership and service as she volunteers to help with the younger students in Intsika’s other education programs. The team intends to keep supporting Rochelle through high school.
Beyond its educational programs, Intsika is holding out the hope of the gospel to local families through a Friday afternoon outreach and a Bible study group for carers.
Pray:
- Pray that God will lift children out of poverty and grow disciples of Jesus through Intsika.
