We are very excited to announce the completion of the newly inaugurated Rev. Canon Helen Hoskins Library at Bunda Girls Secondary School (BGSS).
Anglican Aid’s history with Bunda, in the Tanzanian Diocese of Mara, goes back a long way, thanks largely to the tireless work of Helen Hoskins. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Bunda, and Helen, over the years.
Lay Canon Arthur Mauya was thrilled with the success of the project. “I am writing … to thank Anglican Aid for their dedication, contribution and continued support to our ministry in Mara Diocese. The ideas, input and enthusiasm we get from Anglican Aid workers are most helpful and have assisted us in making valuable improvements to all our building programs in the diocese. Because of your generosity, we are able to further our mission in bettering the lives of children and adults in our diocese and the country at large.”
With partnership from Anglican Aid and others, the library will make a huge difference to both the students and staff of the school, which has grown significantly since its humble beginnings in 2013. Local firm, Mrefu Construction Ltd., has done an excellent job, overseen by Anglican Aid and the Diocese.
“The former school library consisted of two bookcases in an empty classroom,” said Helen. “It’s not unusual to see girls sitting outside on the grass with the breeze blowing their papers and the sun beating down on them as they do self study.
“The new library has a main area and plenty of room for books. This will be a good study space for students to complete assignments and research. There will also be a couple of smaller meeting rooms and one reserved for quiet prayer.”
The school has benefited from donations and fundraising by Christians in Australia and beyond. And from the prayer of faithful supporters like you. Asante sana!
