#GivingTuesdayNow: standing together in generosity even when we’re apart

Anglican Aid is taking part in #GivingTuesdayNow (www.givingtuesday.org.au), an international campaign which aims to increase community engagement and support of charities and not-for-profits.

Giving Tuesday began in the United States as a day of charitable giving in late November or early December, as an antidote to the mass consumerism of Black Friday.

But this year, in response to the COVID-19 crisis, #GivingTuesdayNow will take place this Tuesday, 5 May 2020. This global day of action is an opportunity for our community to stand together in unity and generosity by supporting charities that care for those less fortunate and less resourced than ourselves.

Many of Anglican Aid’s project partners around the globe are facing unprecedented need and great financial pressure in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The people they serve have lost livelihoods and are no longer able to feed their families. The luxuries of online work or study are often impossible, and there is limited access to clean water and hand-washing facilities to prevent the spread of the virus.

Most of the partners Anglican Aid supports heavily rely upon being able to meet in person, so they are working hard at adapting their activities in a changed context. Despite the upheaval and uncertainty that this COVID-19 crisis has brought, we remain committed to continuing to support our partners.

Anglican Aid needs your continued support and generosity to do so. On May 5, would you consider taking part in #GivingTuesdayNow by making a donation towards the COVID-19 Relief Appeal?
